ORD AFG & GERMANY : Strategic Partnership

The Organisation for Relief Development (ORD) was established in Kabul, Afghanistan, in 2010 by Mohammad Khalid Salimee and a team of experienced humanitarians and development professionals. Committed to providing emergency relief and sustainable development solutions, ORD has been instrumental in supporting vulnerable communities, including refugees, returnees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and marginalized groups, particularly women, children, and individuals with disabilities.

Over the years, ORD has emerged as one of the largest Afghan NGOs, successfully implementing more than 244 humanitarian and development projects across all 34 provinces, with an operational budget of USD 70 million. The organization's focus areas include agriculture and food security, economic development and livelihoods, community infrastructure, climate action, education and skill building, as well as water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH). ORD's dedicated efforts towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have positively impacted over 3.3 million households and earned it trust as a partner with major international donors and organizations, including UNOCHA, the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund (AHF), UNHCR, FAO, UNDP, Norwegian Church Aid, Caritas Germany, UNWFP, UNICEF, UNIDO, GIZ, DACAR, and the Central Asia Institute.

In 2024, leveraging extensive experience in humanitarian and development programs in Afghanistan, Asia, and Africa, Mohammad Khalid Salimee and Alias Wardak established ORD Germany as a strategic extension of ORD's mission. This new branch, registered as a separate legal entity,  is designed to support communities in crisis and manage complex emergencies beyond Afghanistan.

The Organisation for Relief Development (ORD) Germany gUG operates under a formal strategic umbrella agreement with ORD Afghanistan, which outlines a comprehensive framework for cooperation. This partnership allows both organizations to share resources, utilize project references, and access necessary information and data. Such a collaboration facilitates effective participation in tender proceedings, concept notes, application processes, and the implementation of projects, ensuring high-quality services that meet the needs of clients and beneficiaries.

In conclusion, ORD Germany and ORD Afghanistan regard themselves as two distinct legal entities united by a shared vision. They collaborate to support vulnerable communities, leveraging their combined strengths and resources to address challenges and enhance their humanitarian efforts effectively.
